Gayle Cinnamon
Avalon Media Co-Manager
Gayle Cinnamon co-founded Avalon Media in 1993. Ms. Cinnamon’s customers have included Intel, FileNET, PROSOFT I-NET Solutions, IVEA Technologies, Toshiba Information Systems, QUALCOMM, Ricoh Electronics, Digital Equipment Corporation, RKG Interactive, COMSYS, University of Toyota, and many others.

Prior to founding Avalon Media, Ms Cinnamon spent 15 years working for various corporations in the documentation and training fields, oftentimes holding a management position. As an ex- High School English teacher, she understands both the value of education, and the methodologies required to make it effective.

Ms. Cinnamon earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California, and received her Secondary teaching Credential from the California State University at Los Angeles. Additionally, she has completed numerous management and quality training programs, such as Taguchi Methods, Deming, Effective Middle-Management, ISO 9000, Information Management, an AMA certification in User Documentation, various Web tools (Java, HTML, XML, eProcessing, etc.), and a Zenger-Miller Certification for their "Working" Program (team-building skills).

Ms. Cinnamon is an active member of the Association of Women in Technology (AWT) Southern California Chapter, the Society for Technical Communications (STC) Orange County Chapter, and the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) Orange County Chapter.

Chris Fuerbach
Avalon Media Co-Manager
Chris Fuerbach co-founded Avalon Media in 1993. Ms. Fuerbach’s clients have included Intel, FileNET, PROSOFT I-Net Solutions, COMSYS, MicroAge, and many others. As Project Manager, Senior Writer and Technical Trainer she has helped her clients to achieve their technical communications, documentation, and training goals.

Ms. Fuerbach began her career in Electronics Engineering with Advanced Micro Devices where she designed prototype hardware, documented final designs, and trained support personnel during the initial building of new designs. Building on her competency and knowledge within the engineering arena, Ms. Fuerbach discovered a love and strong ability to communicate technical ideas to a range of audience levels, from product end-users to fellow-engineers, through written documentation and training.

Ms. Fuerbach’s corporate experiences also include Marketing Management positions for technology-based companies. Drawing on her technical background and writing skills she has supported projects ranging from corporate identity and collateral development to technical documentation and courseware design.

Ms. Fuerbach holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from California State University Long Beach, an Associate of Science in Business and an Associate of Arts in Music from Fullerton Junior College in Fullerton California, and an Associate of Science in Electronics Engineering from Heald Institute of Technology in Santa Clara California.

Kelli Bond
Project Manager
Kelli Bond ensures that Avalon Media attracts and retains a diverse workforce—and provides core advisory, editorial, instructional, and project management services for the firm’s business development efforts and client engagements.

For the past 25 years, she has combined workplace learning and performance, corporate and marketing communications, technical publications, direct sales, and frontline service to help businesses in the private and public sectors gain (or recapture) and maintain a competitive edge. Roles include manager, needs analyst and market researcher, performance consultant, instructional designer, writer, editor, trainer, evaluator, HR generalist, recruiter, public relations specialist, and account executive.

Throughout most of her career, Ms. Bond’s expertise has supported technology deployments within organizations, along with technology-driven product releases into the B2B marketplace. Her work also encompasses other initiatives such as apprentice training, ISO 9000, business standardization and process re-engineering, department and company reorganization, and more. Recent assignments include Southern California Edison, Ricoh Electronics, The First American Corporation, Toyota Motor Sales, Downey Regional Medical Center, Elmer’s Products, Toshiba America Medical Systems, St. Joseph Health System, and Intel.

Ms. Bond is a life member and past president of the American Society for Training & Development, Orange County Chapter. With an extensive service record around health, arts, education, and other social issues, her latest contributions are speaking and writing on the career issues of individuals frequently struggling with organizing, integrating, or using information despite apparent verbal strengths.

Ms. Bond earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from California State University, Fullerton. She holds two certificates (HR management from the University of California, Irvine and basic mediation from The Mediation Center in Costa Mesa). She has taught for the Southern California College of Business & Law, the California Poets in the Schools, the North Orange County Community College District’s contract education arm, and others.

Charlene A. Derby
Project Manager, Instructional Design
Charlene Derby specializes in Project Management and Instructional Design. For the past 30 years she has helped businesses reach their employee development and productivity goals using a wide variety of instructional methods and media.

For the past 15 years, Ms. Derby has worked as an independent contractor helping companies implement new technologies using e-learning strategies. She has served as an important team member on projects for Pacific Gas and Electric, Toyota Motor Sales, Utilicorp United, Caterpillar Inc., Federal Express, Burlington Air Express, St. Joseph Health System, and others. As such, she is familiar with all aspects of e-learning (WBT, CBT) design, development, and implementation.

Ms. Derby also has 15 years of corporate experience having served as Manager of Training Program Development for both Taco Bell, Inc. and Denny’s Restaurants, Inc. She served as Training Specialist and Unit Leader for Hancock Laboratories, now known as Medtronic Cardiopulmonary. In these capacities, Ms. Derby supervised exempt and non-exempt staff as well as consulting services. Programs developed ranged from simple workbooks to multimedia presentations; technical skills to management development. She has managed training budgets of up to one-half million.

Ms. Derby holds a BA in English from Spring Arbor College, Spring Arbor Michigan, and a M.A. in Management and Business Administration from the University of Redlands, Redlands California. She is a current and active member of the Orange County Chapters of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI). In 1999, she was President of Orange County ISPI.

Ms. Derby resides with her family in Southern California.

Joyce Kersey
Senior Instructor
Ms. Kersey’s professional background includes over fifteen years of multinational corporate experience, including managing the Personnel Development and Training departments of two divisions of General Motors/Hughes Aircraft Company. She has a well-rounded Human Resources background in employee development, employee relations, recruitment, compensation and benefits.

A seasoned professional in the training disciplines providing management development, Ms Kersey’s career development includes providing technical training, diversity and employee development programs for individuals, small, and large groups. She has serviced clients in all of the major industries and works with high level executives, middle management, and hourly employees.

Ms. Kersey's programs and certifications include AMA-Managerial Essentials, Franklin Covey, Achieve Global (formerly Zenger-Miller), and many others. Her clients have included Western Digital Corporation, The Prudential, AT&T, Nissan, Toshiba, USC, Portals, and Ability First among others. She has also been an instructor at the University of California at Irvine Extension Program and California State University, Long Beach. Her education includes a Masters Degree in Administration from California State University and a Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Connecticut State University.

Ms. Kersey is an active member of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) currently serving as its Director of Marketing. She and her family reside near the coast in Orange County, California.

Brian Mason
Senior Instructional Designer, Trainer
Brian Mason is a training specialist with almost 20 years expertise in course design, document design and production, and training delivery. He has created, written, produced, and delivered technology instruction in a range of venues, formats, and roles for companies including Hewlett Packard, Intel, Juniper Networks, the Disney Studios, New Horizons, Edison International, and NASA.

Prior to joining Avalon Media, Brian served as the Senior Technical Writer for TriTech Educational Services in Newport Beach, California. His duties at TriTech included job task analysis, course design, research, writing, editing, and production of technical training materials in various formats and output mediums for projects including: Intel’s networking technical certification courses, a number of Hewlett Packard’s ‘HP University’ courses, HP’s “LanVan” nationwide networking and connectivity training sessions, HP’s World Wide Web audio broadcasts on server technologies, HP hardcopy’s “Working with Color Documents” training, HP’s Digital Workplace Services training, Mitel Corporation’s “Voice Over IP” nationwide training tour, Juniper Network’s router certification courses, Intel’s chip technology and InBusiness training tour, and the design and global rollout of HP’s "Networking Technologies" course training materials.

Prior to TriTech, Brian was the Director of Courseware at the Focus Institute, a Costa Mesa, California -based technology training company. Brian was responsible not only for Microsoft Partner, SCO-UNIX certification, and other vendor-specific authorized education center compliance standards and practices, he also ensured compliance with governmental instructional standards and practices for the DefCon II retraining initiative, and oversaw the design, writing, editing, and production of books for both retraining courses in office automation, graphics, and other business skill tracks for over 400 students a day, as well as writing and producing training materials for private classes with a variety of customers.

Brian holds a BS in Secondary Education from USC, and a Master’s of Education with an emphasis in Technology Education from Pepperdine University. He has been a guest speaker at a Ziff-Davis National Computer Training and Support Conference, is a credentialed teacher in 2 states, holds a California Private Post Secondary Technology Instruction certificate, and lives in Southern California.

Bruce Potter
Web Application Programmer
Bruce Potter is one of the true Internet techies, combining the ability to program in many server-side and client-side scripting languages, with extensive networking hardware knowledge. Mr. Potter is currently studying to become a Cisco Certified Internet Expert (CCIE).

Mr. Potter provides expertise in web-based applications, web-based training, and web-based product demonstration for Avalon Media. With over a decade of experience in programming, combined with an indepth knowledge of Internet structure, he provides an all-encompassing technical view of the Internet, and the ability to create highly functional and interactive Internet presentations and GUIs.

Mr. Potter’s experience covers all aspects of Internet technology, including Database design and administration, eCommerce, content management, eLearning, etc. His experience rounds out Avalon Media’s skill set bringing your white papers and training programs to life.

Jesse Stumpp
Visual Design Architect
Jesse Stumpp is currently designing and updating the Avalon Media web site as well as developing graphical and multimedia elements for assorted Avalon Media projects.

Prior to joining Avalon Media, Ms. Stumpp was the Training and Technical Support Manager for Acuscape International, a company developing a medical diagnostic 3D imaging software. Her services at Acuscape included: creating training instruments in the form of PowerPoint Presentations, PDF files, online training, multimedia files using Camtasia and screen captures. Further responsibilities included developing help files using RoboHelp and giving software presentations at conventions and providing technical support for alpha testers and researchers using the software prior to release.

Prior to Acuscape, Ms. Stumpp served as Producer, Art Director, Technical Director and Director for a Distance Learning Course for educators produced at California State University, Los Angeles. Her responsibilities included producing all the graphics, animations and pulling together other multimedia elements of the show such as slides, video and audio components.

And prior to the Distance Learning Course, Ms Stumpp held several management positions; Project Manager at A.S.K. International where her clients included: PIP Printing, Casey Family Foundation, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Sunclipse. And for seven years served as Senior Audio Video Coordinator at the Los Angeles County of the Museum of Natural History.

Ms. Stumpp earned a Master of Arts Degree in Education from California State University, Los Angeles, specializing in Instructional Design and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University, Kent Ohio, majoring in Studio Art and Cinematography. She also holds a certificate in Digital Design from Platt College in Los Angeles. Her background in both Fine Art and Instructional Design give her an added art perspective when developing instructional graphics.

Ms. Stumpp is a member of the eLearning Guild and resides in Sunland, CA.

Dina Wiley, Ph.D
Project Manager
Dina Wiley provides expertise in employee assessment, performance measurement, and program evaluation for Avalon Media. With over 20 years experience in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Dr. Wiley brings a wealth of knowledge and skills rooted in scientific methodology and research. As an additional benefit to clients, she ensures that all performance measures and employee assessments are properly designed, reliable and valid.

Whereas her early career focused on pre-hire selection, organizational surveys and statistical analysis, Dina now applies her talent to employee and management assessment, skill and ability certification, evaluation of training effectiveness, program evaluation, instructional design, and ROI analysis. She is experienced in the automotive, banking, insurance, manufacturing, education, government, protective service, and medical fields.

Prior to her consulting practice, Dr. Wiley has worked as an internal consultant and research analyst in the financial and insurance industries, where she developed computerized and written assessment programs to assess the skills of employees for organizational re-engineering. To ensure better quality employees, she has also developed and delivered training on behavioral interviewing techniques to managers and recruiters. She designed and used the Management Styles Questionnaire for the selection and development of middle level managers. She has developed and coordinated assessment centers for employee selection and development.

An active member of several professional organizations, Dina is currently serving as Immediate Past President of the Orange County Chapter of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI). On the international level, she also works as a chair for two committees with ISPI, which involve judging Awards of Excellence submissions, and evaluating proposals for speaker presentations. In addition to ISPI, Dina is involved in the American Psychological Association, Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the Personnel Testing Council, and has presented at several national professional conferences. Dr. Wiley received her Ph.D. Industrial-Organizational Psychology from United States International University, San Diego.
